ABB Channel Partner conference, Baden, 2022
After the pandemic, in 2022, ABB was finally able to host an in-person partner conference at its headquarters in Baden. This time, instead of a global event, it was a regional event with European channel partners. Traditionally, the event included presentations of key projects from the pre-conference period, along with the awarding of recognition for projects deemed noteworthy for various reasons.

After a successful survey phase in 2020, the automation modernization of the welding rod manufacturing plant of ESAB Kft. in Mór began in 2021. Instead of the previous individual operator frontend solutions placed above the manufacturing technology—due to the lifecycle expiration and lack of support—a superior ABB control system and operator interface was installed above the Siemens system that controls the machinery. This not only made the industry-specific solution unique within ABB but also made the communication unique, based on a Profinet-based, custom-configured solution. The programming was entirely carried out by Contro-Net Kft.

The project is considered a success story by the ABB parent company. At the 2022 Baden Partner Conference, our company received the Disruptive Force Award for one of the eight awarded projects. This award recognizes a project that successfully implements ABB automation systems in an entirely new industry.
